Packing Boxes

A low cost folding laptop stand made from ReUsed Cardboard boxes. The clever design of the stand means that it can be used for desk use or on the users knee. This simple design also functions as a carry case for your laptop to safely transport it from place to place.
The dimensions given in the insturctions are based on a 13" MacBook Pro and will therefore need to be altered accordly to suit different laptops.

The template for the design showing the dimensions of the various cardboard components that need to be cut out. These measurements are for a Macbook Pro laptop and you will need to make adjustments to these to suit different laptop sizes.

Mark out the dimensions of the different components.

Cut out each component carefully. Score all fold lines and fold to form the basic shape.

Score and fold the two end sections and mark out the cuts for the split pins.

Score and fold the ends of the side panel to allow the stand to fold flat.

Mark out and cut holes into the top plate, then attach the side panels using split pins.

Position the split pins according to the specifications, ensuring that you do not squash the card.

Attach the folding plate to the main shell using PVA glue or spray mount.

Place the laptop on the inside of the folding mechanism.

Fold the top of the cover over to protect the laptop, then tuck the tab into the cut on the top.

Using the cardboard sleeve, wrap around the case to hold the laptop case in place.

A large cardboard box/large corrugated cardboard sheet (610mm x 860mm x 2mm total surface area of card needed for 13" MacBook Pro) A Craft/Stanley Knife Metal Ruler and Pencil Spilt Pins PVA Glue or Spray-On Glue
